Poetry.com Extends Its Community Connections
MD (PRWEB) August 25, 2008 -- With the development of new Widgets and an extensive Facebook® application, Poetry.com (www.poetry.com) has released new community-based features designed to allow people to share and spread their interest in poetry. Poetry.com also offers an extended reference section with brand-new articles and informative selections in order to aid in a writer's development. "We are extremely excited these to offer the new features to all our participating poets!" said Poetry.com Managing Editor Howard Ely.
With the creation of Poetry.com's new Facebook® application, poets are given the ability to branch out into one of the world's most popular communities while still being able to be active with their writing. After a poet has linked to the application (http://apps.facebook.com/poetryvote/), he or she can actually post their own poems right to the site. Along with posting poetry, application users can browse other poems that anyone has submitted and vote on which they like best. At the bottom of each poem, there is even a comment section that allows for praise and critique. Once a poem has been entered, it can be placed on a member's profile page as well.
"I think it's really awesome that I can do something this fun and meet so many others with a similar interest!" said one application user.
Widgets are Poetry.com's latest endeavor into community development (http://www.poetry.com/dotnet/widgets/widgetdesigner.aspx ). Any of the poems featured on Poetry.com can now be added to blogs and community pages such as MySpace, Multiply, and a host of others. Users now have the ability to bookmark poetry or instantly create links to their own poems. RSS feeds have also been included to allow poets to display a new "poem of the day" on their sites as well.
Poetry.com's own handpicked and highly esteemed editorial staff has developed the new reference section. Articles and information range in topics ranging from development of technique (http://www.poetry.com/techniques/refsum.asp) , the history of poetry and some of the world's greatest love poems (http://www.poetry.com/LovePoems/lovePoems.asp). An online rhyming dictionary and comprehensive poetic glossary (http://www.poetry.com/techniques/glossary.asp) offer amateur poets a chance to improve their craft.
