Former "Art in the Pearl" board member and member artist of L.O.C.A.L. 14, she has been featured in Fiber Arts Magazine and other national fiber arts magazines. Trisha Hassler embraces both torch-cut steel and improvisational quilting and through her artistic abilities combines the two mediums in one art form even though they are considered being on the opposite ends of the artistic spectrum. "The mixture of quilted fabrics with torch-cut steel grows from a life-long personal fascination with the paradox," states Trisha. "The art work in a continuing three-dimensional series titled 'Surface Connections' speaks quietly of the intricate center in our most private being surrounded by a strong protective armor and the interplay of the two dissimilar elements is a reminder to embrace the ever shifting balance present in our lives." High Desert Gallery & Custom Framing of Central Oregon is honored to represent Trisha Hassler exclusively in Central Oregon.

Quilting Tips: Things That Every Quilter Should Know
If you watch an expert quilt then you will be forgiven for thinking that it is an easy task. If you have ever tried it then you will know that that is definitely not the case. There have been various methods applied over the years to try and make quilting that much more simple and, as a result, there are various quilting tips around. However, you have to sort the good from the bad because some quilting tips simply do not work. Others, however, do. A simple tip, like turning the material over to be able to see the grain of the thread, may infinitely help you.
Quilts from art auctions
I've been traveling throughout California attending art auctions looking for unique quilts. I have had a lot of success. I have found so many quilts that you could tell were filled with thousands of hours of careful planning and stitching.
Bed Quilt - An Important Player In Your Sleep
Quilt is a bed or a bed cover of three layers with the middle one being stuffed and if all three are tied at regular intervals by thread or yarn, such quilts are called as tied quilts. The two outer layers differ in fabric and pattern as one is a plain backline the other is the top.
How to Make a Crazy Quilt
The term 'crazy quilting? is often used to refer to the textile art of crazy patchwork and is sometimes used interchangeably with that term. Crazy quilting does not actually refer to a specific kind of quilting (the needlework which binds two or more layers of fabric together), but a specific kind of patchwork. Crazy quilts rarely have the internal layer of batting that is part of what defines quilting as a textile technique.

Besides being a blanket to keep you warm, comfortable and cuddly during those bitterly cold winter months when nothing but a warm quilt and a hot cup of coffee would be the most looked forward to thing in life, the quilt also qualifies as an important contributing element in bedroom décor. The reason for this is that quilts come in a range of bright stimulating colors that can greatly brighten and thereby liven up the ambience of your bedroom. For instance, there are bright red quilts with floral of blue and yellow or there are multi-colored square patched designs that give the appearance of an appliqué blanket and there are also baby and children quilts with cartoon animals in bright backgrounds.

Cleaning an Antique Quilt.
If you have just acquired an antique quilt, there are some things to watch for before you think about how to clean it. You need to look carefully at the quilt's age and condition. You also need to think carefully about whether you should wash a quilt. It is a good idea to seek the advice of a professional textile conservationist first. You can find one by contacting The American Institute for Conservation, 1717 K St. NW, Suite 200, Washington DC 20006. It is true that no matter how careful you are, you may permanently damage a quilt by washing it. You should certainly never wash a damaged quilt before repairing it.
